This special scent (odourless to people and other animals) that Feliway utilises is a replication of the pheromone that cats leave naturally when they are feeling comfortable in their environment. Cat’s naturally leave the pheromone behind on objects in their home to mark their territory, however any change in the home, no matter how small, can cause stress to your cat and cause them to stop leaving the vital pheromone, this in turn makes them feel less secure and again increases stress. Your cat could also be affected by any change in your home organisation and schedule, such as a new family member, like a baby or a new partner, a new job that makes you more absent from the home, etc. Stress can lead to unhappy behaviour, which can manifest as less interaction with you, hiding away, general mischief or even scratching or spraying. The diffuser should be plugged into the room where your cat spends most of their time. Each diffuser refill covers an area of around 50-70m2.
